Non-Productive Life

Self-deception is the best medicine for curing the disease of non-productivity.

Interesting…..the equation of potential and produce has been laying on my mind as well. I may say that there is no productivity solution or creative tricks that will help us with this ‘continual deferring problem.’ Does your suggestion of ‘self-deception’ say that you feel no viable system exists? In which case I am curious to know the definitional context of your comment. I study criminal law, which partly is the theory of refrain and feel that there is an inherent power in the environments to support productivity in a certain dimension or vice versa. But to do it through ‘self-deception’? Will it not have us doing things merely through will power exercised in isolation……seems like an exhausting way to live.

Firstly, welcome to the world of Blogesphere Ma'am. Nice to see you here. :)

And secondly, this aphorism was just a psychological attempt at self-criticism. A personal satire of some sort.

Anyway, I will still like to share my view on this issue. The modern man despite the shallow and mechanical everyday life believes in his own productivity and cosmic significance. The belief that somehow our actions are significant and our contribution irreplaceable is very strong psychological defense mechanism in the wake of our own insignificance and non-productivity. So, a person who is tangled in everyday 'average everydayness' only finds repose in this dose of self-deception. Its really disturbing to acknowledge one's own non-productivity and then to live with this thought.

Man cannot stand non-productive life. A life deprived of cosmic significance. Therefore, we had to invent something to give significance to our average everyday life. And self deception is psychologically the natural response to it :)

I know this is really depressing :-D
