Defining philosophy has never been an easy task.Some have called it 'Love of knowledge'.If one asks the question about its subject matter,my answer will be that Philosophy sees reality as a whole and is its 'own' subject matter.
But for me philosophy is looking at things in a different way every time.

I would define it as "speculation, justified by argumentation, about the general and abstract matters to which science does not provide a definite answer."
I don't present it as strict definition, but i think it gives a fair idea of what philosophy is about.
Science was once the daughter of philosophy.Its strange how the role of philosophy changed overtime.
